The Difference Between Service and Documentation.
Most workshops fix what is broken. We fix what is broken and then give you a written account of how the movement looked when it came in, what was done, and how it performs when it leaves.
← Back to HomeSix Reasons to Choose the Bench at Jalan Kia Peng
Independent Expertise
No brand affiliation means no minimum service bundles, no mandatory cosmetic work, and no pressure to upgrade rather than repair. We work to the owner's brief, not a service centre policy.
- Swiss, Japanese and independent calibres accepted
- Three watchmakers with combined 20+ years experience
- Advice given without upsell agenda
Full Paper Trail
Intake photography, a written condition report, timing traces before and after work, and a parts record are included with every job. You receive a complete account, not just a receipt.
- Formatted for archiving with original papers
- Useful for insurance and future sales
- No upcharge for documentation
Timing Machine Results
Rate traces are taken at intake and on completion across multiple positions. The numbers tell you what the movement was doing when it arrived and what it does after regulation.
- Six-position testing as standard
- Both traces printed and included
- 90-day follow-up rate check available
Correct Lubrication
We hold the full MOEBIUS and Nye lubricant range and apply each grade to the correct contact point per calibre specification. Over-lubrication and wrong-grade oils are among the most common causes of early re-service.
- Full lubricant range maintained
- Applied per calibre specification
- Ultrasonic cleaning before re-lube
No Silent Parts Replacement
Worn parts are identified, photographed and quoted separately. Nothing is ordered or fitted without written confirmation from you. You control what level of intervention your watch receives.
- Parts costs quoted before ordering
- Written approval required
- Worn parts returned if requested
KL-Based, No Overseas Routing
All bench work is carried out at our Jalan Kia Peng workshop. Your watch is never shipped overseas for service, which removes the wait times, customs risk and pricing opacity associated with that route.
- All work done in-house
- Courier intake for non-KL owners
- Progress updates on request

Three Things You Will Not Find Elsewhere
The Heritage Restoration Commission
For inherited or period pieces, we separate mechanical repair from cosmetic intervention at scope agreement, so the owner decides how much patina to keep. Parts are hand-fabricated or sourced from period donor stock where production has ceased. The resulting bound condition dossier documents every decision made during the commission.
The 90-Day Follow-Up Rate Check
After a movement overhaul, we invite owners back at ninety days for a complimentary rate check on the timing machine. A movement that regulates well on the bench does not always continue to run at the same rate once worn daily. The follow-up check catches any drift before it becomes a problem.
Honest Assessment Over Sales
If a watch is not worth the cost of repair — whether for mechanical or economic reasons — we say so in the written assessment and explain why. The assessment fee applies to any work you choose to go ahead with. We would rather give you accurate information than a quote for work that does not make sense for your piece.
