What the Owners Say.

Reviews from owners who brought their watches to the bench. We do not edit or curate feedback — including the one that docked a star for the wait time on a sourced mainspring.

Brought in an ETA 2824-2 that had been running around -15 seconds a day. The before-and-after timing traces are a nice touch — you can actually see the amplitude went from 210 to 282 degrees after the service. Watch has been running within ±4 seconds for the past two months.

Had a Seiko diver's water resistance checked before a trip to Redang. The printed pressure test record is useful to keep with the watch. Took three days rather than the quoted two — staff mentioned an extra batch of gaskets were held at customs — but they called to update me, which I appreciated.

My grandfather's Tissot Seastar from the 1960s came back in better shape than I expected. They found a hairspring coil touching the regulator and corrected it — something I had no idea about. The bound dossier they produced is something I will keep with the watch permanently.

First time bringing a watch here after a recommendation from a colleague. The intake process is more thorough than I expected — photos, written notes on the dial condition before any work starts. The watchmaker explained each lubrication point when I asked, which was genuinely interesting.

Drove up from Shah Alam specifically for the gasket service before our Perhentian trip. Quick intake, honest about what the case gasket looked like, and the pressure test record was ready when they said it would be. The watch held to 100m in the water with no issues.

Sent a Citizen automatic in for service. They noticed a worn cannon pinion during the strip and quoted it before ordering. Watch came back running clean — rate is within about 8 seconds per day, which is well within what I expected from a movement of this age. Good value at RM 1,780 all in.

Three Jobs in Detail

Case Study 01

Inherited Omega Constellation, 1971

Challenge

Movement stopping after three hours. No service history. Dial and pie-pan caseback in fair original condition — owner did not want cosmetic work done.

Solution

Full strip-down revealed a broken mainspring and dried lubricant throughout. New mainspring fitted, parts ultrasonically cleaned, re-lubricated and regulated. Case sealed but not polished.

Outcome

Running within +6/−3 seconds per day across all positions. Bound dossier documents pre-service dial and movement condition. Duration: 4 weeks.

Case Study 02

Diver's Watch Gasket Failure, Post-Dive

Challenge

Owner returned from a dive with condensation visible inside the crystal. Crown gasket had failed. Movement had been exposed to moisture.

Solution

Movement removed and dried. No corrosion found as moisture exposure was short. Full gasket set renewed. Movement oiled at affected contact points and reassembled. Pressure tested to 200m.

Outcome

Case holding to rated depth. No condensation recurrence reported at 90-day follow-up. Total cost: RM 460 for gasket service, no additional parts required. Duration: 3 working days.

Case Study 03

Pre-War Pocket Watch Movement

Challenge

1930s Swiss lever pocket watch sourced at an estate sale. Movement running, but erratically. Balance staff pivot bent. No matching parts in production.

Solution

Balance staff pivot turned on lathe from period donor material. Full service carried out. Staff and balance wheel inspected under 40× magnification. Movement regulated to position.

Outcome

Movement running within ±10 seconds per day — appropriate for its age and design. Stage photography and parts record included. Duration: 11 weeks including lathe work. Price: RM 4,450.
